Art Explorations at Artel
Wednesday, July 15 - 5:30 PM
John Markowitz, Painter
"The Painting Process"
Experience vicariously the nature of painting in the studio, as John shares the methods and materials he uses in the mysterious process of painting. Choices of color, scale, texture, space, and design are the fundamentals, he explains, but a painter hopes for a work to become more than the sum of these parts for it to become unified. John holds an MFA from Pratt Institute in New York. A professional artist who participates in many solo and group exhibitions, he has also taught for 20 years. He has served as curator for shows at the Pensacola Museum of Art and universities from Pennsylvania to West Florida. He currently teaches at the University of West Florida and will jury Artel’s "Art Underground" exhibit in August.

PLT - Disney’s High School Musical
Disney Channel’s smash hit musical comes to life on stage! Troy and Gabriella want to audition for the school musical, but other drama students, Troy’s basketball team, and Gabriella’s science club pals all work to keep them out of the school play. The plan seems to be working, but with the rest of the school’s support, they finally get their chance to try out. For details or ticket information, visit www.PensacolaLittleTheatre.com. PLT’s 2008-2009 Treehouse Season is sponsored by ANDREWS ORTHOPAEDIC AND SPORTS MEDICINE CENTER. High School Musical is co-sponsored by BB&T.

PLT - Acorn Children’s Theatre
A pair of one-act plays that turn classic fairy tales on their ear. “Poultry in Motion” scrambles the stories of Chicken Little, who believes the sky is falling, and the Little Red Hen, who tries to get her feather-brained friends to stop loafing around and bake some bread. “Puss in Boots” is a delightful re-telling of the classic tale about the cat who promises his young master a great fortune, if he can only have a pair of really nice boots. This Acorn Production is performed for children by children. For more information, call the PLT Box Office (850) 432-2042 or visit PensacolaLittleTheatre.com.
